Paris tragedy: Harlow Council opens book of condolence

TricolourA BOOK has been opened in Harlow Civic Centre for the local community to leave messages of condolence for those who died in the terror attacks in Paris last Friday.

Harlow is twinned with Velizy-Villacoublay which is s located in the south-western suburbs of Paris just 9 miles from the centre of Paris. The book of condolence will be sent to the Mayor of Velizy-Villacoublay Pascal Thevenot.

Councillor Tony Hall, Chairman of Harlow Council, said: “We want to show solitary and support and remember those affected by these horrific events. We are also reaching out our hands of friendship to our twin town Velizy-Villacoublay during this very difficult time.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all in Paris and Velizy-Villacoublay and the whole of France.”

Council Officers also observed a minute’s silence this morning at 11am and flags outside the Civic Centre are flying at half-mast.
