AMBULANCE staff have been described as “first class”, “10/10”, and “very professional” in the latest patient survey.

Almost 100% of respondents said they were satisfied or very satisfied with the overall service they received from the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) in August following a 999 call that they or someone with them had to make.

The people who handle the 999 calls in the region’s three control centres were also praised with 99% of respondents saying that their call was handled acceptably or very acceptably.

Comments from the 113 respondents to the patient experience survey included: “Your crews are 100%”; “Very competent, confident and professional”; “The ambulance staff were excellent in every way”; “I found the ambulance service was first class”.

All respondents found the equipment used by staff was clean as well as the interior of the ambulances. In addition, 97% found that staff were very professional and that 98% were treated with dignity and respect.

Chief Executive Robert Morton said: “I’m extremely proud of all my colleagues for accomplishing such outstanding results; I want to thank them for their continual determination to provide the best ambulance service for the region.”

He added: “Seeing such positive comments from former patients shows that we are persistent in attaining the high levels of standard which we are already at. I would also like to thank everyone for taking the time to provide us with feedback; these surveys help us build a stronger ambulance service for the future. My thanks go not only to the control room staff and other Trust staff, but to all the volunteers across the region who support our crews and sacrifice their own time to aid those who need it in their communities.”
