Athletics: Harlow make their mark in cross-country

Harlow X CountryHarlow Running Club hosted the second round of the East Herts and West Essex
Cross Country League over a 5 mile very wet and muddy course on fields and woods
bordering Newhall and Church Langley. The ladies team performed excellently,
finishing first ahead of teams from Ware, Saffron Walden, Bishop’s Stortford and
Hoddesdon. The men’s team did’nt fare so well, finishing in 4th place, overall
HRC finished 4th and after two rounds now lie in 4th place. First placed Harlow
lady was Louise brass in an excellent 3rd place and she was followed home by
Louise Tankard 6th and Juliua Gardiner 7th. First Harlow man was Rich Hynes in
9th place followed by Alex Smith 18th and Adrian Fell 21st.

Meanwhile at the Harlow Parkrun 5K Ben Chitiyo finished in 2nd place out of 66
finishers in an excellent 19min 42sec. He was followed home by Martyn Coulter
(9th in 22.19PB), Anna Baker (14th and 1st Female in 23.24PB), Kerry Mavris
(28th and 1st Female Vet 35 in 25.06), Nicola Smith (31st in 25.08PB), Debbie Barry
(37th and 1st Female Vet 50 in 26.40), Alan Wellbelove (41st in 27.15) and
Debbie Cooper (53rd in 31.38).

At the Hatfield Forest Parkrun 5K Jason Haigh finished in 10th place out of 93
finishers in 21min 21sec, Justin Patten was 42nd in 24.52 and Joanne Mills 71st
and 1st Female Vet 65 in 30.33.

At the Gunpowder Parkrun 5K at Waltham Abbey Jamie Luck finished in 22nd place
out of 80 finishers in 22min 56sec and Louise Kedge was 44th in 26.37.

At the Panshanger Parkrun 5K at Hertford Sean Flynn finished in 32nd place out
of 169 finishers in 22min 24sec.

At the Winchester Parkrun 5K Richard Solomons finished in 33rd place out of 203
finishers and 1st Vet 65 in 22min 56sec

At the Honolulu Marathon in Hawaii Andy Kinney finished in 10,228 place out of
30,778 finishers in 6hrs 05min 44sec.

At the Milton Keynes Half Marathon Sean Flynn finished in 254th place out of
1534 finishers in 1hr 38min 49sec. He was followed by Saira Karim (453rd in
1.47.52) and Lyndsey Hodge (496th in 1.49.45).

At the Olympic Park 10K Lyndon Cooper finished in 8th place out of 549 finishers
in a fantastic PB time of 35min 03sec.

At the Olympic Park 5K Michael Gornall finished in 180th place out of 487
finishers in 30min 12sec.

At the Southend 5 Mile Rudolph race Robin Lozeau finished in 48th place out of
334 finishers in a PB time of 37min 33sec.
