Football: Harlow edge closer to the play-offs

Football / Tue 29th Dec 2015 at 04:39pm

Ryman Div One North

Redbridge 0 v 1 Harlow Town

IT was another game played in tough conditions, with a swirling wind and poor surface making it difficult for both sides to produce a good standard of football.

The Hawks got off to a great start when Junior Dadson put the visitors ahead, tapping home from close range after a goal-mouth scramble. Despite the early goal, the Hawks couldn’t go on to take control of the game, and the task was made harder when defender Sam West was forced off through injury mid-way through the first half.

Despite their lowly league position, Redbridge still had a fight in them, and Harlow ‘keeper David Hughes was required to be on hand to pull out some good saves to keep his clean sheet intact.

Harlow held out to take an important three points and keep up the pressure on the playoff places.

The result moves the Hawks up to 7th in the table, with 42 points from 23 games. Harlow are now three points and two places from the playoff places.

The first game of 2016 sees local rivals Waltham Abbey visit the Harlow Arena. It will be on Saturday 2nd January with a 3:00pm kick off.
