Two arrested over mugging of a pensioner on Christmas Eve

Church StreetTWO people have been arrested in connection with a robbery in Harlow.

A 76-year-old man was walking in an underpass between Church Road and Latton Common Road at around 7.30pm on Thursday, December 24 when he was approached by two suspects who demanded a cigarette and cash.

When he refused to hand anything over, he was assaulted and robbed of a few pounds in loose change.

A 26-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, both from Harlow, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

They were released on bail until February 21, pending further enquiries.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the incident.
