Elderly lady left with serious injuries after head on collision on Howard Way

Essex Police statement
HOWARD Way in Harlow was closed for five hours yesterday while emergency services dealt with a two vehicle serious injury road traffic collision.
Police were called just before 5pm to reports of a head-on collision between a black Nissan Micra and a black BMW 3 series. Fire fighters also attended and removed the roof of the Micra to free the driver, a 72-year-old woman from Harlow, who was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment to serious injuries.
The driver of the BMW, a 34-year-old man from Bishops Stortford, suffered minor injuries. The road was re-opened at 10pm after police had conducted initial investigations and the cars had been recovered.
Police would appeal for any witnesses to the collision to contact them on 101 and quote incident number 550 of January 2.

Statement from Essex Fire Service
Two casualties were released from their vehicles using cutting equipment.
Crews were called to Howard Way following a two vehicle road traffic collision.
Both casualties were left in the care of the ambulance service at 17:58hrs.

Essex – Howard Way in Harlow closed at the Momples Road junction to Second Avenue, because of an accident.

THERE has been a road traffic incident in Howard Way in Harlow.
The road has been closed between Howard Way at Second Avenue up to the junction with Long Leys.
