ESSEX Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident on the M11 northbound between junctions six and seven.
It happened at around 5.55pm on Friday, January 8. A blue Nissan Micra appeared to leave the carriageway and was in collision with a tree. It ended up on its roof and the driver, a 47-year-old man from Braintree, suffered serious injuries. He was taken to Addenbrookes Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Debris from the car collided with a green Jaguar which was also travelling northbound. The four occupants of that car were not injured.
The northbound section of the motorway between the junctions was closed for several hours whilst the vehicles were cleared. It reopened in the early hours of this morning.
Motorists are thanked for their patience whilst the road closure was in place.
Officers would like any witnesses to the collision to contact them. Anybody who has any information is asked to call Pc Daniel Corr at Chigwell Road Policing Unit on Essex Police 101.
