South Of England Indoors Lee Valley,Sunday 17th January
17 year old Harlow College student Canaan Solomon took part in his first indoor track race for his new age group Under 20s.
Stepping up an age group Canaan qualified easily over 800 in 1 mins 57.7.
In the final the Harlow youngster was determined to set a fast pace which he did so.He passed 400 metres in 55 seconds with rival Archie Davis from Brighton close on his tail.Going into the last lap the Brighton athlete took the lead until coming off the final bend Canaan regained the lead with a spirited sprint finish to win in 1 mins 51.05 a new championship record by three seconds This time also put Canaan top of the rankings Senior and Junior in UK.
Canaan came into the sport in 2010 when I spoke to him after winning Harlow Schools by a street and has never looked back since. He will now run the Nationals at Sheffield next month
At Perivale in Start Fitness Met League last Saturday Harlow pupils scooped a first, second and third with only 7 seconds covering all three Over 3k in the Under 13 boys age group Sidnie Ward won his third Met League in a row hotly pursued by Harlow Athletic Club member Joe Morgan just 5 seconds behind. In 3rd place just a second behind Joe was Kai Boggon who ran really well for 3rd
We talked at great length regarding Sidnie awhile back.He now has the championship races to look forward for his Under 13 boys age group.
I am hoping on the track however he might squeeze inside 2 minutes for 800 and make The All England Schools Championships
