Athletics: Young Hearts run well for Harlow

TWO Harlow Running Club sixteen year olds produced the club’s outstanding
performances last weekend at the the Hatfield Forest Parkrun 5K.
Owen Haigh, in his debut for the club, finished in 5th place out 119 finishers
and 1st Under 20 in an excellent 20min 45sec. Laura Jephcott, also in her debut
for the club, finished in 77th place in 30min 04sec, a new HRC Female Under 20
record. Father Jamie was 6th and 1st Vet 45 in 20min 48sec and David Page 51st
in 27min 01sec.
Meanwhile at the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run 10k there were six
personal best times for the distance (PB) achieved from nine runners. Alex Smith
finished in 75th place out of 12,117 finishers in a superb 39min 13sec. He was
followed home by Martyn Coulter (457th in 43.22 PB), Paul Schroder (852nd in
45.45 PB), Wendy Spring (1355th in 47.54 PB), Louise Kedge (3262nd in 53.15 PB),
Jeff Mace (3460th in 53.40 PB), Matt Jones (5498th in 57.59), Michelle Hughes
(9303rd in 65.04 Debut) and Steve Crosby (10,630 in 70.47 PB).
At the Royal Parks 10K in Hyde Park Andy Bradley finished in 141st place out of
834 finishers in 47min 30sec and Andy Kinney was 654th in 63min 49sec.
At the Peddars Way Ultra Marathon, a 48 mile multi-terrain race from the Suffolk
border to the North Norfolk coast, Gary Godfrey finished in 32nd place out of
121 finishers in an exhausting 8hrs 46min 35sec.
At the Harlow Parkrun 5K Jared Bethell was victorious in 1st place out of 110
finishers in an excellent 18min 33sec. He was followed home by Martyn Coulter
(18th in 24.03), Spencer Brooks (19th in 24.24), Paul Dixon (27th in 25.31),
Debbie Barry (33rd and 2nd Female in 26.19), Alan Wellbelove (37th in 26.37),
Louise Cootes (39th and 3rd Female in 27.48) and Hossain Erfani 62nd and 1st Vet
60 in 31.44 PB).
At the Beckton Parkrun 5K Paul Schroder finished in 8th place out of 40
finishers in 23min 47sec and Wendy Spring was 13th in 25min 31sec.
At the St Albans Parkrun 5K Richard Solomons finished in 65th place out of 394
finishers and 1st Vet 65 in 22min 05sec.
At the Gunpowder Parkrun 5K at Waltham Abbey Jamie Luck finished in 26th place
out of 116 finishers in 22min 39sec.
At the Orpington Parkrun 5K in South London Mark Hayward finished in 11th place
out of 122 finishers in 23min 25sec.
At the Ealing Parkrun 5K in West London Andy Kinney finished in 115th place out
of 218 finishers in 27min 15sec.
At the Gt Notley Parkrun 5K at Braintree Brenda Clayton finished in 71st place
out of 128 finishers and 1st Female Vet 65 in 30min 36sec.
At the Richmond Parkrun 5K in South London Austin Nyamande finished in 255th
place out of 366 finishers in 30min 18sec.
