Fire in The Chase

Communities / Thu 11th Feb 2016 at 05:03pm

ESSEX Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have extinguished a fire in a fourth floor bedroom of a house within the New Hall Estate in Harlow.

One hose reel jet was used to tackle the fire in The Chase by 12:09hrs (Feb 11th). A thermal image camera was used to check for any occupiers in the 100 per cent smoked filled property.

Two people inside the property were outside when crews arrived.

Station Officer Darren Martin said: “The fire started in a cupboard on the fourth floor of the property. Clothes touching a hot water pump inside the cupboard caught alight.

“Crews did an excellent job and tackled this fire quickly and effectively. Once we extinguished the fire, we helped deal with a leak within the property. We will be visiting other homes on the estate to give fire safety advice.”
