PREVIEW: In form Harlow Town host Thurrock in promotion showdown with record-breaking streak in their sights.

By Matt Biggadike

AN in form Harlow Town welcome 4th placed Thurrock to the Arena tomorrow afternoon in another top of the table clash.

The Hawks are the in form side of the Ryman Division One North and will have the chance to make it an incredible 12 consecutive league wins with a victory tomorrow, a feat that would shatter a club record of 11, set in the 1978-79 season.

The home side come into the game in fine fettle on the back of an emphatic 4-0 home win over league strugglers Wroxham on Tuesday. Junior Dadson continued his inspired form by bagging two first half goals taking his tally for the season up to a healthy 26.

The two promotion hopefuls last met at the beginning of the month, and it was Harlow who took all three points with a 2-1 victory in what was a very close encounter at Ship Lane.

With Harlow sitting 10 points off league leaders AFC Sudbury, albeit boasting two games in hand, it is vital to their automatic promotion chase that they don’t take their foot off the gas this Saturday with AFC Hornchurch and Thurrock looking to pounce on any slip ups.

Tomorrow’s opponents Thurrock are firmly in the play-off chase, and currently sit in 4th position, five points behind 2nd place Harlow with a game in hand. Their season has hit the buffers recently with three losses and just two wins in their last five league matches.

It is sure to be an intriguing clash tomorrow in what on paper looks a tough game to call as the promotion chase heats up.
