Review: T.Rextasy prove their heroes at the Harlow Playhouse

Review

IT was just one song but it was a special moment for this reviewer. On Friday, as part of their barnstorming set at the Playhouse, T.Rextasy played an unplugged version of Heroes as a tribute to David Bowie.

It was a lovely version and a lovely moment, on a stage that Bowie had graced in April 1972.

T.Rextasy are the official keepers of the T.Rex flame and boy, do they keep the flame alive. Perhaps the best example is their fantastic version of Jeepster that brings a new force to the music and was a fitting crescendo to the night.

The relevance of Marc Bolan’s work was that he felt like the link between rock and roll, hippy culture and punk rock.
When you go to see T.Rextasy it becomes all too apparent. That is because the band are so damned tight particularly John Skelton’s driving drums.

Danielz, once again,is a force of nature in his work. A terrific guitarist, he has so much energy in his performance. The audience certainly agreed as they were dancing away right up to the end.

A wonderful night. We look forward to them returning.
