Order and chaos coming to the Rhodes

Lifestyle / Sat 26th Mar 2016 at 05:33am

Order and ChaosOrder and Chaos’ is an Exhibition of Textile Art at the Rhodes Gallery in Bishop’s Stortford from the 2nd to the 29th April.

It is the fourth biennial selected exhibition by members of the Eastern region Textile forum. The work was selected by internationally acclaimed Weaver and experienced curator, Heidi Lichterman, through a Royal Academy Summer exhibition style process which left some artists delighted and others disappointed. However the resulting exhibition will be well worth a visit.

Inspirational interpretations of the theme created by the selected artists who use their skills to combine contemporary and traditional textile techniques. They express their ideas and concepts of Order and Chaos in surprising ways.

Techniques used include Appliqué, Free Machine embroidery, felting, quilting and many more. One interpretation is based on the theme of a building decaying and nature emerging, Mother Nature fights back, which is order and which is chaos, bricks and mortar or branches and twigs?

Another interpretation is Land Lost to the Locust, another ‘My Neighbours Ivy’.

There are two opportunities to meet the Artists from all over East Anglia and discuss their work on Saturday 16th and Friday 29th April 2016.

The Rhodes Gallery is free to the public and is open Monday – Saturday, 10am – 5pm.

Rhodes Gallery, 1-3 South Road, Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, CM23 3JG
