St Marks 50

It was a fitting end to the 50th year of St Mark’s with three of the school’s 4 Headteachers present: Brian Quinn (1982-1994), David Brunwin (1994-2011) and Elaine Heaphy (2011 –current).

Representing Anthony O’Shea, St Mark’s founding Headteacher, was his daughter Claire, who was in the first cohort of pupils when it opened in 1965.

A time capsule, prepared by the D&T Dept. was filled with items significant to the school eg. tie and badge, by Year 7 pupils, ready to be buried on the school site for future generations to discover. It will be marked by a figurative tree created by A Level student Anbu Napoleon.

Headteacher Elaine Heaphy said, “ Welcoming back former staff and pupils was an important, and joyous, part of our celebrations and they very much enjoyed meeting up with “old” faces again and searching through archive material of their days at St Mark’s.”
