Athletics: Age is no barrier for Mr and Mrs Mills

HARLOW Running Club had 23 runners competing at the Essex 10K Road Championships
held at Felsted over a gently undulating course across the Essex countryside.

Although there were some good times by the younger runners pride of place goes
to husband and wife Peter and Joanne Mills. Peter finished 334th out of 474
finishers and 2nd Vet 70 to win the silver medal in his category in 54min 49sec
and Joanne was 395th and 2nd Female Vet 65 to also win the silver medal in her
category in 59min 22sec. First home was Rob Lowe in 15th place in a fantastic
35.55 and he was followed by Rich Hynes 45th in 38.46, Jamie Jephcott 66th in
40.31 and Daniel Jephcott 100th in 42.18. First lady was Carinne Jay in 148th
place in an excellent 44.46 followed by Catherine Ridge 151st in 45.21.

Meanwhile at the Ware 10 Mile race Brendon MacLean finished in 8th place out of
244 finishers in a superb personal best time for the distance (PB) of 1hr 06min
18sec. He was followed by Vicky Steadman 75th in 1.20.14, Peter Ayling 121st in
1.27.45 and Louise Cootes 134th in 1.29.22 (PB).

At the same venue in the Ware 10K Terry Ridge finished in 31st place out of 198
finishers in 44min 28sec and Austin Nyamande was 121st in 59.31, a PB by 9min
30sec.

At the Harlow parkrun 5K Afewerk Rossom was 1st finisher out of 131 finishers in
18min 27sec. He was followed home by Amaniel Tesfay 2nd in 19.15, Andy Terrell
4th in 20.06, Spencer Brooks 11th in 23.13, Paul Dixon 13th in 23.21, Nicola
Smith 20th in 24.06, Robin Lozeau 35th in 26.28, Louise Cootes 45th in 27.56 and
Andy Smith 47th in 28.03.

At tne Hackney Marshes parkrun 5K Martyn Coulter finished in 36th place out of
201 finishers in 20min 40sec and Sharon Wright was 49th in 21.20.

At the Gunpowder parkrun 5K Jamie Luck finished in 18th place out of 135
finishers in 22min 23sec.

At the Bury St. Edmunds parkrun 5K Gary Godfrey finished in 57th place out of
244 finishers in 22min 55sec.

At the Basildon parkrun 5K Andy Kinney finished in 81st place out of 157
finishers in 30min 11sec.
