FRIDAY the 1st July was a very exciting evening, and not just because it was Canada Day! No, Friday was an exciting evening where 8 members of staff travelled to Central London to watch two talented students –Jessica Valentine-Howard and Tinashe Mupfayi compete to become this year’s Vlogstar Champion at the BAFTA’s (a competition powered by the Jack Petchey Foundation, YouTube and the Evening Standard).
The atmosphere was brilliant, buzzing with intellectuals and comedians alike, while we waited to watch the 15 finalists’ videos. Jessica’s dealt with the difficult issue of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and what that means to her day to day life, while Tinashe’s discussed what it means to be happy!
Both students represented our school with dignity, with incredibly moving videos that any teacher would be proud of. For both students to make it to the final 15 –out of 1,000 entrants—was an impressive feat, but there could only be one winner! Jessica came in an impressive 2nd place, cheered on by her adoring fans. It was a fantastic night—well done to both!
Be sure to watch out next year, where you could enter to be the next Vlogstar Champion!
