Ryman Premier

Harlow Town 1 v 0 Kingstonian

A 93rd minute winner by Alex Read gave Harlow all three points on their return to the Ryman Premier against Kingstonian.

Harlow started steadily enough as they faced a team that have been deeply impressive in the Ryman Premier.

Jared Small looked sprightly on the wing as the Hawks built up their attacks. If there was one thing to encourage the loyal fans was how comfortable Harlow looked on the ball.

Alex Read got his first sniff of a chance in the 12th minute when he sneaked behind the flat-footed defenders but could not get a proper shot in.

Kings had a goal chalked of for offside but it showed how danger they could be. When Sam Page headed against the bar it was a clear warning sign for Harlow.

In the 25th minute, Harlow had two great chances to score but both Alex Read and Jared Small scuffed their chances.

A minute later, Small had another two strikes blocked by Kings keeper Rob Tolfrey.

In the 35th minute, Pico Gomez had a header cleared from the line as it looked like Harlow would be lucky to go in level at half time.

But they did and came out battling in the second half and started to boss Kingstonian in the middle of the park.

The Hawks really fought in midfield and as the half progressed in increasingly humid conditions, it was Harlow who looked like they had the legs.

The proof of that was the 93rd minute winner by Alex Read that gave the Hawks the deserved three points on the first day of the season.
