HARLOW children can now get free fruit while their parents are shopping in large Tesco stores across Essex.

More than 600 Tesco Extras and Superstores across the UK will be offering fruits including apples, soft citrus fruits and bananas as a “little help” to get kids to eat more healthily.

Stores in Essex taking part in the scheme include:

Tesco Superstore, East Rd, Harlow CM20 2TG

The scheme aims to get children eating healthily and is extra help towards them eating their five a day.

The idea for the free fruit came from a Tesco employee. Checkout colleague Maria Simpson, who works at a store in Lincolnshire, suggested giving free fruit to parents for their children to eat during shopping trips to stop them munching on sweets, or demanding them from the shelves.
