Athletics: Harlow runners go the extra mile in triathlon

HARLOW Running Club member Afewerk Rossom improved his personal best time for
the distance (PB) and the HRC Under 20 record at the Hatfield Forest parkrun 5K
when he was first finisher out of 243 finishers in 17min 07sec. He was followed
home by Amaniel Tesfay 4th in 17.50 (PB), Alan Broughton 20th in 20.26, Andy
Terrell 21st in 20.33, Jason Haigh 26th in 21.12, Kate Bull 27th in 21.19,
Darren Tiley 28th in 21.21, John Bull 33rd in 22.00, Carinne Jay 37th in 22.07,
Julia Gardiner 40th in 22.26, Graham Saville 47th in 23.01, Spencer Brooks 49th
in 23.24, Paul Dixon 51st in 23.34, Martin McColgan 53rd in 23.39, Michelle Hyde
69th in 25.14 and Celia Haigh 77th in 25.37.
Meanwhile at the Gunpowder parkrun 5K at Waltham Abbey Jamie Jephcott finished
in 2nd place out of 137 finishers in 19min 35sec. He was followed by Daniel
Jephcott 3rd in 19.39, Jamie Luck 28th in 22.23, Mark Ramsey 31st in 23.09,
Colin Moody 40th in 23.58 and Laura Jephcott 94th in 32.04.
At the Harlow parkrun 5K Craig Segal finished in 2nd place out of 160 finishers
in a PB time of 20min 20sec. Catherine Ridge was 9th in 21.59, Terry Ridge 10th
in 22.02, Andy Smith 28th in 23.54 (PB), Louise Cootes 68th in 28.20, Jeff Mace
70th in 28.46 and Melanie Harris 114th in 33.03.
At the Chelmsford parkrun 5K Martyn Coulter finished in 43rd place out of 519
finishers in 20min 34sec.
At the Mersea Island 5 Mile Paula Reynolds finished in 20th place out of 163
finishers and 2nd Female in 36min 25sec.
At the Lee Valley Velopark 10k Andy Kinney finished in 43rd place out of 63
finishers in 63min 32sec.
At the Castle Series Half Ironman Triathlon in Chantilly, France, consisting of
an open water 1.9K swim, a 56 mile bike ride and a half marathon (13 miles) run,
Faith Jackson-Lee finished in 171st place out of 354 finishers in an exhausting
5hrs 49min 16sec. Andy Ramage was 224th in 6hrs 10min 12sec, a PB by an
incredible 1hr 46min and Holly Nairn, in her debut at the distance, was 283rd in
6hrs 32min 54sec.
At the Hertfordshire Triathlon at Stanborough Lakes in Welwyn, consisting of an
open water 1500mtr swim, a 40K bike ride and a 10K run, Anna Robey finished in
99th place out of 136 finishers in 2hrs 55min 44sec, Carmen Byfield was 111th in
3hrs 01min 17sec and Louise Kedge 116th in 3hrs 02min 57sec.
