Athletics: Sharon grabs bronze at Pleshey Half Marathon

Pride of place goes to Sharon Wright finishing in 73rd place out of 397 finishers, 3rd
lady overall and 2nd Female Vet 35, winning her the Essex Overall Female Bronze
medal and the Silver Female Vet 35 medal. Her time of 1hr 32min 57sec was a PB
by over 7 mins and was a new HRC Female Vet 35 record, which had stood since
2003. Carinne Jay was 124th and 3rd Female Vet 45 in 1.39.18 to win her the
Bronze medal in her age category. These two and Sandi Rust, 137th in a PB time
of 1.40.23, combined to win the Essex Ladies Team Gold medal. Such was HRC
ladies strength in depth on the day that they also won the Essex Ladies Team
Bronze medal thanks to Catherine Ridge 162nd in 1.43.05, Vicky Steadman 182nd in
1.45.43 and Janice Page 254th in 1.53.53. First to finish for Harlow was Rich
Hynes in 30th place in an excellent 1.25.19 followed by Alex Smith 38th in
1.26.10 (PB), Jamie Jephcott 55th in 1.30.29 and Andy Bradley 97th in 1.36.04.
There were PB times from Martyn Coulter 99th in 1.36.23, Graham Saville 177th in
1.45.10, Faith Jackson-Lee 187th in 1.46.36, Spencer Brooks 234th in 1.51.22 and
Kerry Mavris 285th in 1.58.49.

Meanwhile Andy Kinney had an exhaustive weekend completing three races in two
days. On Saturday morning he finished the Bournemouth parkrun 5K in 118th place
out of 217 finishers in 28min 39min. In the afternoon Kinney ran the Bournemouth
10K, finishing in 1184th place out of 1859 finishers in 1hr 04min 21sec. Then on
Sunday he completed the Bournemouth Half Marathon, finishing in 2686th place out
of 3331 finishers in 2hrs 22min 10sec.

At the Bournemouth Marathon Brendon MacLean finished in 68th place out of 2015
finishers in a superb PB time of 3hrs 12min 19sec.

At the Southend 10K Dan Chapman finished in 33rd place out of 1174 finishers in
a PB time of 38min 14sec.

At the Great Notley Duathon, consisting of a 4K run, 21K bike ride and another
4K run, finished in 81st place out of 106 finishers in 1hr 31min 23sec.

At the Harlow parkrun 5K Steve Jack finished in 8th place out of 143 finishers
in 22min 31sec. He was followed home by Paul Dixon 16th in 23.58, Anna Robey
17th in 24.07, Michelle Hyde 34th in 25.37, Graham Saville 36th in 25.45, Martin
McColgan 39th in 26.03, Debbie Barry 41st in 26.19, Carmen Byfield 69th in 29.42
and Pushpa Mistry 86th in 31.49.

At the Hatfield Forest parkrun 5K Alan Broughton finished in 9th place out of
183 finishers in 19min 51sec and Justin Patten was 79th in 26.24.

At the Gunpowder parkrun 5K at Waltham Abbey Rick Ricketts finished in 13th
place out of 134 finishers in 20min 46sec. He was followed by Dionne Jones 21st
in 22.06, Jamie Luck 22nd in 22.27 and Austin Nyamande 67th in 28.41

At the Bury St Edmunds parkrun 5K Gary Godfrey finished in 43rd place out of 291
finishers in 22min 20sec.

At the Panshanger parkrun 5K in Hertford Sean Flynn finished in 47th place out
of 199 finishers in 23min 21sec.

At the Bushey parkrun 5K in Teddington Robin Lozeau finished in 610th place out
of 1212 finishers in 26min 28sec.

At the Maldon parkrun 5K Brenda Clayton finished in 130th place out of 224
finishers in 30min 31sec.
