Athletics: Harlow Running Club give thousands to West Essex Mind

HARLOW Running Club donate its Harlow 10 Mile race profits to a local charity
and this year Mind in West Essex, supporting people with mental health problems,
is the beneficiary. A check for £1900 was presented by HRC men’s Vice Captain
Robin Lozeau to Kelly Dorrington of Mind in West Essex at their Bush Fair
office.

At the Essex Vets Cross Country race, over a 5 mile undulating course at
Writtle, Peter Mills collected the Vet 70 Gold Medal by finishing in 121st place
out of 123 finishers and 1st in his age group. In the Vet 50 and above race
Andy Bradley was 76th in 39min 57sec, John Tennant 82nd in 41.14, Alan Cootes
90th in 42.31 and Martin McColgan 100th in 44.12. In the Vet 40 race Mark Moulds
finished in 85th place out of 90 finishers.

Meanwhile at the Bass Belle 10 Mile race at Bassingbourn near Royston, so named
because Bassinbourn was the wartime home base of the famous Memphis Belle
bomber, Rob Lowe finished in 6th place out of 384 finishers and 2nd Vet 40 in a
fantastic personal best time for the distance (PB) of 58min 06sec. He was
followed home by Alex Smith 22nd in 1hr 04min 59sec (PB), Ryan Smith 25th in
1.05.56 in his debut at the distance, Adrian Fell 30th in 1.06.54, Jamie
Jephcott 41st in 1.08.37, Sharon Wright 42nd in 1.08.45 (PB), John Bull 62nd in
1.11.19, Spencer Brooks 167th in 1.22.39 (PB), Derek Seymour 285th in 1.34.43
and Alison Bull 321st in 1.39.39.

Andy Kinney completed another double header weekend. On Saturday he ran the
VeloPark 10K at Lee Valley, finishing in 79th place out of 182 finishers in
56min 32sec. Then on Sunday he ran the Boscombe 10K at Bournemouth, finishing in
413th place out of 555 finishers in 57.12.

At the East Midlands Airport 10k, run around internal airport roads, Debbie
Smith finished in 556th place out of 1768 finishers in 51min 29sec.

At the Hatfield 5 mile race Nick D’Alton finished in 130th place out of 475
finishers in his debut at the distance in 36min 07sec.

At the Harlow parkrun 5K Afewerk Rossom finished in 2nd place out of 138
finishers in 17min 30sec. He was followed by Steve Jack 11th in 22.09 (PB), John
Bull 15th in 22.48, Graham Saville 22nd in 23.27, Terry Ridge 27th in 23.57,
Paul Dixon 29th in 24.07, Martin Westley 35th in 24.33 (PB), Andy Smith 38th in
24.38, Catheridge Ridge 40th in 24.42, Holly Nairn 50th in 25.37 (PB), Nicola
Smith 54th in 25.51, Louise Kedge 55th in 26.19, Spencer Brooks 64th in 27.39,
Martin Elven 80th in 29.25 and Pushpa Mistry 92nd in 31.43.

At the Hatfield Forest parkrun 5K Owen Haigh finished in 6th place out of 165
finishers in 19min 36sec (PB). Jason Haigh was 9th in 20.09, Justin Patten 39th
in 24.45 and Michelle Hyde 65th in 26.12.

At the Bognor Regis parkrun 5K Andy Terrell finished in 4th place out of 167
finishers in 20min 03sec.

At the Bury St Edmunds parkrun 5K Gary Godfrey finished in 30th place out of 213
finishers in 22min 30sec.

At the Gunpowder parkrun 5K at Waltham Abbey Jamie Luck finished in 25th place
out of 140 finishers in 22min 47sec.

At the Edmonton parkrun 5K Robin Lozeau finished in 23rd place out of 49
finishers in 26min 29sec.

At the Romford parkrun 5K Alan Wellbelove finished in 84th place out of 148
finishers in 27min 28sec.

At the Enfield parkrun 5K Brenda Clayton finished in 98th place out of 139
finishers in 29min 02sec.
