Athletics: Rossom blossoms on the country

IN a late result from the previous week, Harlow Running Club hosted the first
round of the East Herts and West Essex Cross Country League over a five mile
course on the fields and woods between Newhall and Church Langley. The ladies
team finished 2nd out of 5 teams, the men were 3rd and overall both teams
combined to finish 3rd. produced the performance of the day by
winning the men’s race. He was followed home by Rob Lowe in 7th place, Amaniel
Tesfay 15th, Owen Haigh 29th and Rich Hynes 30th. In the ladies race Sharon
Wright finished in 6th place followed by Carinne Jay 8th, Julia Gardiner 14th
and Catherine Ridge 15th.

Meanwhile at the Milton Keynes Winter Half Marathon Rich Hynes finished in 141st
place out of 1766 finishers in a superb 1hr 31min 09sec and Terry Ridge was
386th in 1.42.37.
At the Olympic Park 10k Lorraine Knight, in her debut at the distance, finished
in 307th place out of 376 finishers in 55min 16sec.
At the Harlow parkrun 5K Amaniel Tesfay was first finisher out of 112 finishers
in 17min 03sec, a personal best time for the distance (PB) and a new Under 20
club record. He was followed by Terry Ridge 10th in 22.48, Catherine Ridge 13th
in 23.04, Graham Saville 14th in 23.07, Martyn Coulter 15th in 23.12, Spencer
Brooks 22nd in 23.58, Greg Goodey 23rd in 24.01 (debut), Martin Westley 25th in
24.28, Anna Robey 28th in 25.22, Louise Kedge 40th in 27.14, Debbie Barry 42nd
in 27.19, Louise Cootes 43rd in 27.20, Alan Wellbelove 58th in 29.20, Pushpa
Mistry 75th in 32.31, Karen Moir 95th in 34.47 and Austin Nyamande 101st in
35.11.
At the Sligo parkrun 5K in Ireland Paul Lee finished in 6th place out of 32
finishers in 21min 47sec and Faith Jackson-Lee was 9th in a PB time 22.01
At the Hatfield Forest parkrun 5K Richard Hynes finished in 11th place out of
140 finishers in 19min 52sec and David Page was 67th in 26.40.
At the Gunpowder parkrun 5K in Waltham Abbey Jamie Luck finished in 24th place
out of 136 finishers in 23min 02sec.
At the Long Eaton parkrun 5K in Derbyshire Debbie Smith finished in 99th place
out of 267 finishers in 25min 57sec.
At the Stevenage parkrun 5K Terry Pike finished in 89th place out of 145
finishers in 29min 01sec.
At the Reading parkrun 5K Brenda Clayton finished in 185th place out of 253
finishers and 3rd Female Vet 65 in 30min 49sec.
