Passmores students bring festive cheer to Leah Manning

Communities / Mon 19th Dec 2016 at 01:15pm

PASSMORES students took a trip to the Leah Manning Centre to spread some festive cheer.

The Citizenship students have been busy over the last few months.

Tey started researching about older people’s opinions towards teenagers by interviewing people at Bush Fair.

Using their findings the students then decided to work on improving and changing people’s attitudes.

They have done this by teaching younger students about some older people finding Christmas difficult. They then asked students to bring in good quality second hand goods they could sell to raise money for Christmas hampers for people living at Manor Hatch sheltered accommodation and to buy presents for the elderly at Leah Manning Centre.

The Harvey Centre kindly allowed them to sell these goods on Friday 25th November. They also donated £50 pounds worth of food. The students raised over £150 from their sale and as well as this a cleaning company sponsored the students to have a trolley dash in Tesco on Friday 2nd December.

The students collected £206 of food in two minutes. The students have been busy making their hampers to give to Manor Hatch residents on Tuesday 20th December and wrapping presents for Leah Manning residents.
