Harlow Playhouse / Fri 10th Feb 2017 pm28 04:13pm
THE AWARD-WINNING Story Pocket Theatre presents Michael Morpurgo’s epic tale of magic and heroism as King Arthur takes to the stage on Sunday February 12 at the Harlow Playhouse.
Spectacular sword fights, a classic battle between good and evil, a moving love story and enthralling storytelling come together to create a memorable family show. The well-loved stories of King Arthur, Queen Guinevere, Sir Lancelot, the Lady of the Lake and the sword Excalibur come to life in this exciting adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s best-selling novel.
When a boy becomes stranded at sea, he is rescued by a mysterious old man who claims to be none other than the great King Arthur Pendragon! Through the old king’s magical storytelling, the boy and the audience are transported back to the heady days of Camelot, the Knights of the Round Table, Merlin and his faithful hound, Bercelet, the Lady of the Lake and the sword in the stone.
Legendary adventures of brave chivalry and battles, the search for the Holy Grail and the great betrayal of Lancelot and Guinevere are all part of this exciting new family theatre production from the award-winning Story Pocket Theatre. The show comes to Harlow after a hugely successful premiere at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe last August where it won rave reviews from critics and audiences.
This fast-moving family production is the first of Michael Morpurgo’s novels to be adapted by Story Pocket Theatre. The master storyteller and author of War Horse has been Story Pocket Theatre’s Patron since the company formed in 2013 and gave special permission to bring his novel to life on stage.
Imaginative physical theatre, charming puppetry and outstanding storytelling combine to create this Arthurian legend, which is most suitable for brave knights aged 7 years plus and their families.
Tickets for Michael Morpurgo’s King Arthur are available via the Harlow Playhouse website: harlowplayhouse.co.uk or by calling the Box Office on 01279-431945.
