Athletics: Harlow excel from Huntingdon to Hatfield

HARLOW Running Club members were out and about at various events over the
weekend, at home and abroad.

At the Grafman Half Ironman Triathlon, a 1.2 mile open water swim, a 55 mile
bike ride and a 13.1 mile half marathon run, at Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire,
Nick D’Alton finished in 205th place out of 577 finishers in 5hrs 07min 53sec, a
personal best by an incredible 26 minutes.

Meanwhile at the ITU Sprint Distance Triathlon, a 750 metre open water swim, a
21k bike ride and a 5k run, at Dorney Lake in Berkshire, Andrew Kitson finished
in 199th place out of 710 finishers in 1hr 10min 09sec, 2min 45sec quicker than
his time from last year.

At the Exeter Marathon Martin Elven finished in 289th place out of 310 finishers
in 5hrs 32min 16sec in his debut at the distance.

At the Wimbledon Half Marathon Sean Flynn finished in 221st place out of 830
finishers in 1hr 53min 01sec.

At the Kuala Lumpur Half Marathon in Malaysia Andy Kinney finished in 160th
place out of 200 finishers in 2hrs 53min 29sec. A respectably time considering
it was run at 5.30am with a temperature of 28C and 88% humidity.

At the Wimpole Estate 10K in Cambridgeshire Brenda Clayton finished in 406th
place out of 649 finishers and 2nd Female 60+ in 1hr 06min 03sec.

At the Harlow parkrun 5k Danny McCree was 1st finisher out of 205 finishers in a
PB time of 18min 57sec. He was followed home by Darren Tiley 3rd in 19.43, Greg
Goodey 4th in 20.34, Martyn Coulter 9th in 20.51, Martin Westley 19th in 22.29,
Sean Flynn 26th in 22.54, Paul Dixon 35th in 23.38, Catherine Ridge 36th in
23.54, Andy Smith 37th in 24.03, Jim Bates 48th in 25.26, Andrew Smith 58th in
26.13, Alex Smith 59th in 26.13, Debbie Barry 61st in 26.27, Louise Kedge 63rd
in 26.53, Louise Cootes 66th in 27.00, Peter Mills 84th in 28.03, Austin
Nyamande 89th in 28.21, Alan Wellbelove 94th in 29.12, Pushpa Mistry 120th in
31.32, Melanie Harris 128th in 32.57 and Joanne Mills 135th in 33.09.

At the Hatfield Forest parkrun 5k Rich Hynes finished in 5th place out of 324
finishers in 18min 54sec, Alan Broughton was 15th in 20.19, John Bull 44th in
22.50, Terry Pike 182nd in 29.26 and Janice Page 211th in 31.12.

At the Gunpowder parkrun 5k at Waltham Forest Daniel Jephcott finished in 3rd
place out of 216 finishers in 19min 00sec, Jamie Jephcott was 19th in 21.23,
Andy Ramage 23rd in 21.53, Carinne Jay 56th in 25.02 and Holly Nairn 70th in

At Hoddesdon parkrun 5k Graham Saville finished in 9th place out of 69 finishers
in 23.27 and Spencer brooks was 14th in 24.00.

At Great Yarmouth parkrun 5K Terasa Holden finished in 232nd place out of 310
finishers in 31.19.
