HARLOW Town welcomed Little Thurrock Dynamos Ladies to the newly sponsored stadium McCullochs Arena for their first competitive game of the new season in the Women’s FA Cup 2017 first round.

Harlow Town had a very slow start to the game and Thurrock started the better out of the two sides, closing the ball down quickly, creating one or two positive chances but Sarah Walker was there to secure the defence in goal. After the first 10mins and Harlow Town settled into their formation and tactics, they were fantastic especially in the central midfield, where Lucy Sende was running the game with support from Nicole Learner and Hannah Clifford.

After 20mins, Harlow started passing the ball around and Nicole Learner went through the middle of the park on her own on one of her fantastic dribbling runs, then struck the ball from 25 yards into the top corner of the goal to make it 1-0 to Harlow Ladies.

After that goal, the confidence started to show and the professionalism was incredible for this standard and level of football, Harlow quickly made it 2-0 from a curling right wing free kick from Lucy Sende that was headed home by defender Frances Gamble just after the half hour mark in the game and Harlow kept it like that until half time.

Second half, started at fast pace from both sides and credit to Thurrock they were battling, working as a team and continually fighting for the whole 90 mins which was a breath of fresh air & joy to watch. Unfortunately for Thurrock, Harlow were just too good on the day and two goals whilst counter attacking, with fast pace passing, came from Abbie Dell and captain Chloe Bassett, which wrapped the game up for Harlow to secure a place in the next round of the competition.
