Harlow MP, Robert Halfon, welcomes Government’s new National Funding Formula

AFTER a strong campaign by Robert Halfon MP, the Government announced historic reforms to the schools funding system on Thursday 14 September.

Robert welcomed the announcement that the Department for Education will increase schools spending by £1.3 billion over the next two years, providing funding for a per-pupil cash increase at every school in the country.

Robert said “I welcome the Government’s new investment in schools. For too long, the funding formula meant schools across the country received disparate levels of funding, unrelated to the needs of the school and pupils.

“I am pleased to see that the extra £1.3 billion will not only maintain the overall budget in real terms but will provide extra funding for every school in the country and, on top of the existing pupil premium, for disadvantaged students”.
