Duxford

IN a week of reflection and remembrance, a number of year 9 students from Stewards Academy visited the Imperial War Museum at Duxford.

The trip provided an excellent opportunity for students to enhance their knowledge of a range of conflicts from the First World War to the Cold War. Students were able to study the history of the parachute regiment from D-Day through to Iraq, and see what role it had in the conflicts. They explored the American Air museum which showcased examples of the aircraft that were used during these times. They even had the opportunity to see part of the Berlin Wall!

Jamie King, Subject Leader for History, said: “As the trip took place in the week leading up to Armistice Day pupils were also able to pay their respects to those who have fallen fighting in the armed forces. Year 9 were very respectful and represented their academy with pride.”
