Harlow Schools Sports

From the Harlow School Sports Partnership

CONGRATULATIONS to both teams from Church Langley Primary School who once again triumphed over some very strong competition to take home the trophies for the Years 3/4 events and the Years 5/6 events. Held inside Mark Hall Academy Sports Centre for the sixth year, the events were split between the morning and afternoon.

Hosted by Adam Burgess from Sportshall (who runs these events up and down the country) teams from around Harlow came together to compete in a series of races – some with obstacles – and a variety of track events including standing long jumps, vertical jumps, chest push, javelin and speed bounces. The children really enjoyed themselves and at times the noise- from the cheering athletes – was deafening. Both events ran very smoothly thanks to the help of amazing Sports Leaders from Church Langley, who supported Adam to officiate events and results.

David Stacey, SGO for Harlow, enjoyed the success of the children who entered into the ‘Olympic Spirit’ of the day. “Today was another triumph for Harlow Schools; the competitors were very strong in many disciplines and some of the performances were amazing; most importantly all the children remained sporting throughout the day. It was great to see familiar rivalries between teams and I was delighted to see some schools enter for the first time; this bodes well for future Harlow competitions.

Special mention to Ray Eastlands from Fawbert and Barnard – supporting that young man in the race was one of the most heart- warming scenes it has been my pleasure to witness as an SGO; we really make a difference to so many lives.

Congratulations to Church Langley, we wish them the best of luck in a very difficult County Event.”
