EARLIER this term, secondary school Stewards Academy and Passmores Academy held a joint post 16 event at the Park Inn Hotel.
It held over 25 organisations, colleges, 6th forms, apprenticeships, employers, services and universities all hoping to capture the next generations attention. This gave the students access to a wide variety of impartial advice allowing for them to explore themselves and see what the future could potentially hold for them.
Students took part in some preliminary work to best prepare them for the event with over 120 students, parents and carers from Stewards Academy showing up.
Students said: “It was great there was so many schools and colleges to talk to.” Another said: ” I really enjoyed the opportunity to talk to 6th forms and I now have a good idea of which will be my favourite.”
Gary Cooper a careers adviser at Stewards Academy and one of the organisers of the event said: ““We are very grateful for the continued support of local organisations for our students and we feel sure that the event will have benefitted them greatly and will play a major part in their decision making for their future ambitions.”
