Athletics: Alan powers to his 100th parkrun

Athletics / Mon 11th Dec 2017 at 07:10pm

Alan Power

VETERAN Harlow runner, Alan Powers ran his hundredth parkrun down at Harlow Town Park on Saturday morning.

In many ways, seventy-two-year-old Alan embodies the spirit of parkrun. Quiet, modest and self-effacing, Alan turns up, week in and week out and always asks about the welfare of other runners.

Alan usually clocks in at the 30 minute mark. So you can imagine what times he was doing fifty years ago!

And nothing seems to break his spirit. He has had a couple of falls over the past few years but Alan, picks himself up and returns to the road.

Alan also volunteers as a marshall.

Well done Alan.

Harlow parkrun takes place every Saturday morning at 9am in the Town Park.
