ESSEX Police are appealing for information after a 77-year-old man was punched in the head and robbed in Harlow.

The victim was walking in Kingsmoor Road at around 12.10am today (Saturday, January 13) when he was hit on the back of the head, knocking him to the ground.

The suspect then searched the victim while he was on the floor, leaving with just a single figure sum of cash and set of keys.

He has been described as being white, around 6ft tall and aged in late teens or early 20s and wore a woollen hat and dark clothing.

The victim then walked to a relative’s home before alerting police.

Dc Lauren Strangward, of Harlow CID, said: “This was an unprovoked attack on a vulnerable man who was innocently walking home.

“He was struck from behind, searched while on the floor and robbed of his house keys and just £7.

“Fortunately he didn’t require treatment and is bravely assisting us with our enquiries. We would urge anyone with information to call Harlow CID on 101 quoting crime reference 42/5795/18 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
