St Mark’s West Essex Catholic School Sport Awards’ Evening

ST Mark’s celebrated the commitment, talent and skill of its pupils last week with its Sport Awards’ Evenings. Pupils who have represented the school in a variety of sports, and those who have demonstrated commitment to training and to their peers, were presented with their Sports’ Colours.

Awards were also presented to Managers’ Players of the Year, Rising Stars in each year group and overall Sport Personality of the Year – Lower School: Ronnie Nickolds and Upper School: Al-Amin Kazeem

Presenting the awards was Guest of Honour Mr Benjamin Odeje, the first black footballer to represent England at any level. He made his debut as a schoolboy international against Northern Ireland in 1971.

The school is very grateful to the Jack Petchey Foundation, who helped to finance the Sport Colours Programme and Awards.

Head of PE, Ray Flowers, said, “ The Awards’ Evenings were wonderful celebrations of the talent and personal commitment of our students; the PE Department is very proud of them all.”
