St Mark’s Pupils Become European Boxing Champions

TWO Year 9 pupils from St Mark’s West Essex Catholic School have become European Boxing Champions, having competed in the championships in Sweden.

13-year-old Jade Huggins overcame her French competitor in the Final to take the title in the 41kg division. Ronnie Nickolds, 13 years, had to beat two Swedish boxers to lift the trophy in the 57kg division. Both pupils train at Hoddesdon Boxing Club.

St Mark’s is very pleased for the pupils, who have trained hard and demonstrated skill, determination, and the benefits of hard work, to reach the top of their sport.

Both also contribute a great deal to sports in school and represent St Mark’s in a number of teams.

When asked about her victory Jade said, “I am incredibly grateful to the coaches at Hoddesdon Boxing Club for their training, guidance and support; without them I would never have achieved this level.”
