World Book Day Competition – Get your Harlow Story Published with the Water Gardens!

AS we build towards World Book Day on Thursday 1st March, school children have more than just their fancy dress costume to get excited about. Local shopping centre, the Water Gardens, have launched a fantastic initiative and call out to children aged 4-12 to practice their creative writing skills with the theme of their home town, Harlow.

Book Day

Children are being urged to submit their Harlow stories to [email protected] by Thursday 1st March for the chance to have their story printed and published across the Water Gardens digital platforms. Plus, they can submit two drawings to accompany their 500 word story, and the drawing will be brought to life, by online illustrator and competition partner, MinkyNinky.co.uk. The company turn children’s doodles into a work of art and bring them to life with coloured crayons and water colours.

Centre Manager, Simon Plumb, commented: “We’re so excited to offer school children the chance to showcase their creative writing skills. We see an influx of children at the Water Gardens purchasing their fancy dress costumes from ASDA, Poundworld, TK Maxx and Matalan each year, so it’s fantastic to be more involved on an academic level as well. We have approached many local schools to inform them about the opportunity for their pupils and can’t wait to read the entries. Three winners will be chosen from 3 age groups, ages 4-6, 7-9, 10-12. A huge thank you to all children that take part.”
