ST Clare Hospice has hosted an Art Exhibition to showcase a selection of their patients’ art and raising awareness of the variety of creative and therapeutic services offered by the charity.

The patient Art Exhibition took place in the Gibberd Gallery at Harlow Civic Centre from Friday 16th March to Friday 23rd March 2018. The free exhibition saw more than 100 visitors over the course of the week come to view the range of paintings, sculptures and art pieces made by St Clare Hospice patients.

Amongst the art pieces were items created by St Clare’s Day Therapy patients that were made during the creative and therapeutic sessions which the charity offers, free of charge, to local people who are living with a life-limiting or terminal illness.

A number of the patients attended the exhibition on Monday 19th March to view the display and share their work with family and friends. One of the patients who exhibited at the event was Jennifer Steadman, who said:

“It is so exciting to see my work on display in the exhibition – for the whole world to see! I have found the creative sessions at St Clare so helpful. In the creative sessions you literally forget why you are at the Hospice. You just know that you are having fun, and getting messy with the paints! For those two hours you just completely forget everything else. I may not be able to make a masterpiece – but I thoroughly enjoy making it – and I certainly never expected my work to be on display in a gallery! I am so pleased that so many people came along to see our work and find out what a difference St Clare’s Day Therapy team makes to people’s lives.”

The St Clare Art Exhibition took place in the Gibberd Gallery, Civic Centre, The Water Gardens, Harlow, CM20 1WG from Friday 16th March to Friday 23rd March. For more information about how Day Therapy could help you, or a loved one, contact the team on 01279 773768 or visit stclarehospice.org.uk
