THE Passmores under-14 girls’ football team celebrated their Essex Cup triumph when they were invited to Leyton Orient F.C. as VIP guests last weekend.

The girls, who had claimed a convincing 5-2 victory in the final against former cup holders, Eastwood, are the first ever Passmores team to win the Essex Cup. To celebrate this achievement, the girls travelled to London to see Leyton Orient Ladies play MK Dons Ladies in a Premier League eight-goal bonanza.

Enjoying a prime view from the directors’ box, the unseasonably cold weather did not deter the girls from making the most of the day and at half time, they were introduced to the crowd as the Under-14 Essex Cup Champions.

Player, Charis Howell, said, ‘We went through the tunnel on to the pitch and walked round showing the cup and our medals to the crowd. Afterwards we met the Leyton Orient Ladies team who congratulated us, and we got to chat to them for a while’.

Talented Charis hopes to play football professionally in the future and is one of several team members who also train with West Ham Academy. When asked what the next steps for Passmores are, Charis said, ‘Our coach, Miss Conway, is taking us to the Essex FA trials in June so we can try out for the squad. Then, training will carry on through the summer holidays so next season, we can enter the under-15s National Cup and we’ll see just how far we can go’.
