Warning after distraction burglaries in Harlow

ESSEX Police are asking people in Harlow to be vigilant after reports of distraction burglaries in the Broadfield (The Dashes) and Churchgate Street (Old Harlow) areas.

A spokesperson said: We’ve received two reports of someone knocking on doors around 12.15pm today (Monday, May 7) and saying that his football has gone into the back garden and asking for it back.

When the people living there have gone to check, items have been taken from inside.

The man in Broadfield area is described as white, in his early 20s, around 6ft tall, of medium build, with short light-brown hair, and wearing a grey t-shirt and blue jeans.

The man in Churchgate Street is described as white, in his early 20s and wearing a white t-shirt and green shorts.

If you recognise these men, see anything suspicious or have any information please call us on 101 quoting incidents 581 and 586 of 07/05.

If someone you don’t know knocks on your door don’t feel pressured to let them in and if you need to leave the front door for any reason while they’re there, please shut it first.
