Athletics: From Hatfield to Hitchin for Harlow’s hares

HARLOW Running Club had a fantastic turnout for the first race of four of the East Herts / West Essex Mid Week Road Race League Division 2 with a total of 59 runners. The race was on a hilly multi-terrain course of 10K hosted by Hitchin RC. The men’s and women’s teams both finished in 4th place out of 6 teams and overall were placed 4th.

In the women’s race Sharon Wright finished in 3rd place out of 124 finishers in a superb 41.06. She was followed by Carinne Jay 18th in 46.30, Julia Gardiner 21st in 46.54, Anna Robey 34th in 48.39, Kerry Mavris 40th in 50.38, Laura Prime 58th in 52.29, Hannah Wenlock 61st in 53.11, Debbie Barry 72nd in 54.26, Nicola Smith 78th in 55.07, Wendy Schroder 79th in 55.33, Deborah Smith 87th in 57.06, Vanessa Bull 88th in 57.07, Karen Moir 90th in 57.19, Jane Evans 92nd in 58.51, Joy Hale 93rd in 59.20, Alison Bull 92nd in 1.00.51, Louise Peacock 98th in 1.01.09, Lindsey Pearson 103rd in 1.02.27, Liz Roberts 112th in 1.05.25, Debbie Monk 115th in 1.05.48, Kim Wookey 117th in 1.06.35, Paula Mills 118th in 1.06.36 and Helen Brunton 123rd in 1.08.59.

In the men’s race Danny McCree finished in 37th place out of 194 finishers in an excellent 38.19. He was followed by Martin Westley 41st in 38.58, Colin Baker 43rd in 39.07, John Shelton 439th in 39.33, Martin Woodruff 51st in 39.55, Alan Broughton 52nd in 39.56, Lourence Maddock 56th in 40.08, Rick Ricketts 58th in 40.16, Owen Haigh 60th in 40.21, Andy Terrell 61st in 40.33, Ryan 64th in 40.38, Ben Usher 73rd in 41.16, Andy Kitson 78th in 42.10, John Bull 80th in 42.34, Jon Steadman 81st in 42.37, Andy Bradley 87th in 42.55, Steve MacKenzie 91st in 43.19, Jason Haigh 93rd in 43.35, Nick Ryley-Warren 107th in 44.44, Graham Saville 110th in 45.06, John Tennant 123rd in 46.29, Colin Moody 125th in 46.50, Andy Smith 127th in 47.18, Jamie Jephcott 138th in 48.22, Roy Steven 143rd in 48.42, Martin Elven 145th in 48.50, Paul Dixon 150th in 49.06, Peter Ayling 151st in 49.25, Robin Lozeau 161st in 51.33, Jim Bates 167th in 52.50, David Goosetree 169th in 53.09, Martin McColgan 170th in 53.37, Paul Schroder 179th in 55.47, Paul Watts 180th in 55.49, Hossein Erfani 188th in 1.00.24 and Ron Newton 192nd in 1.04.12.

Meanwhile at the London Vitality 10,000m Andy Kison finished in 2016th place out of 14,465 finishers in 45.41, Jon Wickings was 2022nd in 45.42, Bobby Draper 3600th in 50.19, Ayshea Pite 5310th in 54.14, Emma Stead 8250th in 60.26, Lee Walker 11,421st in 69.04 and Karen Kitson 13,798th in 1:23:40.

At the Bedford Team Triathlon Relays (1st athlete swims 1500m open water, 2nd athlete bike ride of 40k and 3rd athlete runs 10k) HRC Tri Section entered 5 mixed teams. The 1st team, Andy Kitson, Louise Kedge and Julia Gardiner finished in 13th place out of 44 teams in 3.46.17. The 2nd team, Ryan Smith, Anna Robey and Paul Schroder were 16th in 3.50.29. The 3rd team, Darren Rautenbach, Gail Nichols and Jon Shelton were 18th in 3.56.53. The 4th team, Michael Gornall, Kerry Mavris and Alan Cootes were 34th in 4.27.04. The 5th team, Jim Martin, Justin Patten and Dionne Jones were 37th in 4.30.08.

At Harlow parkrun Martin Westley was 1st finisher out of 218 finishers in 19.41. He was followed home by Andy Terrell 4th in 21.45, Jon Bull 6th in 21.49, Steve MacKenzie 8th in 21.54, Martyn Coulter 10th in 22.09, Allison Beeton 15th in 22.30, Catherine Ridge 19th in 22.51, Craig Segal 20th in 22.55, Graham Saville 21st in 23.04, John Tennant 23rd in 23.18, Paul Dixon 30th in 23.52, Terry Ridge 54th in 25.34, Hannah Wenlock 59th in 26.05, Jim Bates 61st in 26.09, Debbie Barry 68th in 27.13, Louise Cootes 69th in 27.15, Vanessa Bull 78th in 27.48, Spencer Brooks 82nd in 28.25, Martin Elven 87th in 28.51, Andrew Smith 91st in 29.19, Hossein Erfani 94th in 29.26, Alison Bull 104th in 30.01, Teresa Stickland 117th in 30.41, Lisa Gibson 125th in 31.47, Austin Nyamande 128th in 32.06, Pushpa Mistry 132nd 55 in 32.22, Liz Roberts 133rd in 32.35, Melanie Harris 162nd in 35.33, Andy Kitson 182nd in 39.38, Karen Kitson 185th in 39.51, Alan Cootes 193rd in 42.47 and Louise Peacock 218th in 57.35.

At Hatfield parkrun Danny McCree finished in 6th place out of 200 finishers in 18.30.

At Hackney Marshes parkrun Laurence Maddock finished in 17th place out of 315 finishers in 18.45, Paul Schroder was 49th in 21.09 and Wendy Schroder 179th in 26.01.

At Bishop’s Stortford parkrun Owen Haigh finished in 6th place out of 329 finishers in 19.01, Jason Haigh was 23rd in 21.10 and Celia Haigh 171st in 29.00.

At Gunpowder parkrun in Waltham Abbey Darren Rautenbach finished in 31st place out of 193 finishers in 22.51.

At Ware parkrun Sean Flynn finished in 9th place out of 56 finishers in 24.08.

At Gladstone Park parkrun in North London Robin Lozeau finished in 107th place out of 178 finishers in 27.53.

At South Woodford Ferrers parkrun Alan Wellbelove finished in 61st place out of 101 finishers in 29.18.

At Stevenage parkrun Sara Coombe finished in 333rd place out of 338 finishers in 47.01.
