Football Tournament with a difference.
ON Sunday 10th June starting at 12.00 at Paringdon Sports Club a football tournament with a difference will be played, one that only walking is allowed.
Paringdon Pirates Walking Football Club are organising their hopefully biggest tournament to date having run a couple of smaller ones.
The Paringdon Pirates Walking Football have been active for about 18 months. It is designed for people aged 50+ to get back playing the game at an easy pace.
They meet on Mondays from 4.00-5.00pm for a session and also Thursday from 10.00-12.00 at Paringdon Sports Club and anyone wishing to try it out are welcome to come along where depending on numbers small round robin games are played of 8 minutes duration.
A small charge of £2 on Monday and £3 on Thursday where a tea or coffee is available after. Team sizes depend on how many turn up but generally it is about 6-7 a side.
On first Thursday of every month the team get together for an informal chat and social evening. The youngest player is 53 with the oldest 76 so age is not a factor.
The badge the club have design to go with the pirate theme is a skull with crossed walking sticks. So if you fancy even seeing what it is like come down on Sunday afternoon.
