£1.8 million seized in money-laundering raid in Harlow

TWO men have been arrested and more than £1.8m in cash has been seized in Harlow by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) officers.

20 officers from HMRC searched an industrial unit and two vehicles in Harlow and found bags containing the cash. The cash was seized and two men aged 26 and 31 were arrested on suspicion of money laundering during the raid on 31 May 2018.

Debbie Porter, Assistant Director, Fraud Investigation Service, HMRC, said: “HMRC will not hesitate to investigate those suspected of money laundering. We ask anyone with information about this kind of activity to report it to HMRC online or contact our Fraud Hotline on 0800 788 887.”
