Athletics: Harlow runners endure at 24 hour relay

HARLOW Running Club member Craig Segal finished the Southend Half Marathon in 25th place out of 2053 finishers in an excellent personal best time for the distance (PB) of 1hr 23min 12sec. He was followed by Carinne Jay 265th and 3rd Female Vet 45 in 1.39.12, Nick Ryley-Warren 352nd in 1.41.54, Laura Prime 875th in 1.56.35 and Dave Goosetree 1072nd in 2.00.50.
Meanwhile at the St Albans Half Marathon John Tennant finished in 521st place out of 2287 finishers and 3rd Vet 60 in 1.46.29.
HRC had three mixed teams at the Endure 24 Hour Relay race at Reading. The 1st team of Sandi Rust, Paul Schroder, Will Wall, Wendy Schroder and Paula Reynolds completed 30 5 mile laps in 25th place out of 141 teams in 24hrs 13min 48sec. The 2nd team of Andy Kitson, Simon Couper, Ayshea Pite, Saira Muschamp and Emma Stead completed 30 laps in 26th place in 24.13.49. The 3rd team of Richard Smith, Debbie Barry, Sean Flynn, Nicola Smith and Kerry Mavris completed 26 laps in 69th place in 23.16.01.
At Hatfield Forest 10K Rich Hynes finished in 5th place out of 449 finishers in 38.31 and Pasquale Pellichhia was 57th in 48.27.
At Essex Cross Country 10K at Danbury Park Michael Woodruff finished in 17th place out of 204 finishers and 1st Vet 50 in 41.45.
At Orion Forest Five Mile race Martin Westley finished in 37th place out of 142 finishers in 32.15, David Page was 106th in 44.10, Janice Page 113rd in 44.56, Louise Cootes 122nd in 46.58 and Liz Roberts 132nd in 55.56.
At Stansted 10K Debbie Smith finished in 156th place in 1.01.03, Janice Page 157th in 1.01.03, Louise Peacock 197th in 1.07.37 and Tracie Cook 222nd in 1.11.00.
The Triathlon Section were in action at the mid week Lee Valley Aquathlon over two distances.
At the long distance men’s race (500m swim and 5.5k run) Andy Kitson finished in 5th place out of 37 finishers in 30.32 (PB), Ryan Smith 13th in 34.04 (PB), Josh Shelton 18th in 35.44 and Chris McCarthy 33rd in 40.53. In the Women’s race Julia Gardiner finished in 7th place out of 21 finishers in 37.53 (PB), Louise Kedge 13th in 38.54 (PB) and Holly Nairn 16th in 39.35.
At the shorter distance men’s race (250m swim and 3k run) Adrian Fell finished in 2nd place out of 15 finishers in 19.32 and Darren Rautenbach 5th in 19.41 (PB). In the women’s race Gail Nicholls finished in 3rd place out of 14 finishers in 21.0 9and Janice Page 9th in 25.55.
At Harlow parkrun Danny McCree finished in 2nd place out of 202 finishers in 19.08. He was followed home by Alan Broughton 5th in 20.19, Ben Usher 8th in 20.46, Andy Terrell 9th in 20.46, Steve MacKenzie 15th in 22.05, Natalie Pennells 22nd in 22.30, Andy Smith 32nd in 23.14, Paul Dixon 37th in 23.49, David Morley 40th in 23.57, Linda Helm-Manley 41st in 24.06, Martin Elven 47th in 24.37, Graham Saville 51st in 25.24, Spencer Brooks 53rd in 25.27, Lisa Gibson 54th in 25.30, Jim Bates 59th in 26.14, Steve Cowlin 61st in 26.25, Robin Lozeau 65th in 26.55, Andrew Smith 85th in 28.20, Pushpa Mistry 109th in 30.44, Karen Kitson 184th in 41.10 and Sara Coombe 192nd in 49.14.
At the Gunpowder parkrun at Waltham Abbey Rick Ricketts finished in 17th place out of 187 finishers in 21.05.
At the Nuremberg parkrun in Germany John Bull finished in 10th place out of 35 finishers in 22.09.
At Bishop’s Stortford parkrun Justin Patten finished in 55th place out of 307 finishers in 22.43.
At Ware parkrun Hannah Wenlock finished in 19th place out of 54 finishers in 26.17 and Joy Hale was 36th in 31.35.
At Teddington parkrun Andy Kinney finished in 859th place out of 1266 finishers in 30.24.
At Maldon parkrun Alan Wellbelove finished in 225th place out of 313 finishers in 31.26.
At Alexandra Palace parkrun Teresa Stickland finished in 232nd place out of 324 finishers in 31.35 and Brenda Clayton was 235th in 31.40.
At Bognor Regis parkrun Terasa Holden finished in 237th place out of 307 finishers in 35.22.
