BLACK Wax presents a special intimate show from Harlow punk legends the Newtown Neurotics. A warm up show for this summer’s Rebellion Punk festival which will see the band play through tracks from the debut album ‘Beggars Can Be Choosers’ along side single cuts including the fan favourite ‘Mindless Violence’ which is included on the recent Cherry Red Records box set ‘Britain’s Burning’.
The band are the subject of an upcoming documentary which was recently given a boost following a successful kickstarter campaign, backed by Billy Bragg, Phill Jupitus & Steve Lamacq. Led by original singer/songwriter Steve Drewett, the band are also currently working on new material, their first in 30 years.
Support comes from UnPunkt – the new acoustic punk duo from Nigel Clark, lead singer of britpop stars Dodgy. A lifelong punk fan, Nigel cited the Newtown Neurotics as an influence for the track ‘Back Of You’ on the band’s 2012 comeback album. Expect stripped back classic punk songs from ’77-81.
Musical punk poetry duo Cherry & Peesh will also be performing as a warm up for the debut appearance at the Rebellion Punk festival.
