Athletics: Harlow Running Club impress at Mid-Week League

HARLOW Running Club competed in the 2nd round of the East Herts / West Essex Mid Week Road Race League Division 2 at an undulating 10K course at Royston. The women’s team finished 3rd on the day, the men 4th and overall Harlow were 4th and remain in 4th spot after two races. Sharon Wright finished 2nd in the women’s race out of 110 finishers in a superb 42min 03sec. She was followed by Allison Beeton 4th in a PB time of 43.05, Natalie Pennells 23rd in 46.51, Julia Gardiner 29th in 48.36, Kerry Mavris 34th in 49.49, Gail Nicholls 44th in 51.57, Lisa Gibson 45th in 52.00, Debbie Barry 53rd in 52.51, Laura Prime 56th in 53.06, Hannah Wenlock 59th in 53.31, Janice Page 64th in 54.09, Karen Moir 79th in 56.55, Joy Hale 85th in 58.34, Louise Peacock 91st in 59.35 (PB), Iwona Antolik 96th in 61.25, Lindsey Pearson 102nd in 64.44, Paula Miles 104th in 66.37, Helen Brunton 108th in 70.36 (PB) and Liz Roberts 109th in 71.03.

In the men’s race Danny McCree finished in 31st place out of 177 finishers in an excellent 38.50. He was followed home by Martin Westley 36th in 39.03 (PB), Josh Shelton 37th in 39.02, Dan Chapman 56th in 40.30, Alan Broughton 57th in 40.32, Andy Terrell 59th in 40.39, Ryan Smith 62nd in 40.39, Andy Bradley 72nd in 42.33, Steve MacKenzie 73rd in 42.35, John Bull 79th in 43.33, Graham Saville 92nd and 3rd Vet 60 in 44.54 (EQ PB), Nick Ryley-Warren 98th in 45.43, John Tennant 114th in 47.28, Spencer Brooks 125th in 49.41, Jamie Jephcott 130th in 50.12, David Morley 142nd in 51.27, Jim Bates 149th and 2nd Vet 70 in 52.42, Robin Lozeau 156th in 53.48, David Goosetree 162nd in 55.04 (PB), Paul Watts 163rd in 55.04, David Page 165th in 55.26, Bill Brunton 168th in 56.16 and Ron Newton 176th in 63.22.

Meanwhile at Alresford 10K in Hampshire Paul Schroder finished in 62nd place out of 320 finishers in 46.06 and Wendy Schroder was 182nd in 54.48.

At the Dartford Bridge standard distance triathlon (1.5km open water swim, 42km cycle and 10k run) Holly Nairn finished in 84th place out of 117 finishers in 2.43.46 (PB) and Louise Kedge was 87th in 2.47.43 (PB).

At Harlow parkrun Danny McCree finished in 2nd place out of 225 finishers in 18.46. He was followed home by Martin Westley 3rd in 19.15 (PB), Michael Woodruff 6th in 20.02, Alan Broughton 10th in 20.16, Sharon Wright 18th in 21.12, Andy Terrell 39th in 23.31, Graham Saville 40th in 23.35, Martin Elven 45th in 24.06, Steve Cowlin 47th in 24.32, Paul Dixon 60th in 25.31, Jim Bates 63rd in 25.56, Andrew Smith 66th in 26.19, Spencer Brooks 67th in 26.19, Laura Prime 69th in 26.26, Mark Bellworthy 70th in 26.27, Hannah Wenlock 82nd in 27.20, Louise Cootes 83rd in 27.26, Debbie Barry 84th in 27.28, Darren Rautenbach 89th in 27.50, Paul Schroder 90th in 27.51, Austin Nyamande 105th in 29.01, Teresa Stickland 119th in 30.24, Wendy Schroder 154th in 33.35, Tracie Cook 195th in 39.50 and Sara Coombe 216th in 49.16.

At Hackney Marshes parkrun Martyn Coulter finished in 13th place out of 250 finishers in 19.00.

At Gunpowder parkrun in Waltham Abbey Ryan Smith finished in 7th place out of 189 finishers in 19.31 and Andy Bradley was 15th in 21.11.

At Pegwell Bay parkrun in Kent Terry Ridge finished in 16th place out of 201 finishers in 20.55.

At Bishop’s Stortford parkrun Owen Haigh finished in 19th place out of 366 finishers in 21.06 and Justin Patten was 54th in 23.20.

At Hatfield parkrun Alan Wellbelove finished in 161st place out of 279 finishers in 28.41.
