THERE was another blow to the Bush Fair shopping centre after it was announced that the Lloyds Bank in Bush Fair was set to close.
A statement on the Lloyds Bank website said: “Following a careful review, Tye Green Harlow branch will close on 16 October 2018.
“We have made the difficult decision to close this branch due to customers using it less often.
“In addition, the majority of customers are also using alternative ways to bank and we have another branch close by”.

Local councillor, Ian Beckett has expressed his disappointment. Cllr Beckett said: “This is a real blow for the neighbourhood. For the last two years, Bush Fair’s Labour Councillors have been working hard with the traders to tackle antisocial behaviour, to put the positive spotlight on the shopping centre through things like the summer and Christmas Fayres, and we’re on the cusp of embarking on an exciting regeneration project.
“The loss of the bank, that has been there for decades, will impact in particular on the elderly, disabled and disadvantaged – as is often the case.
Hopefully, the Post Office may be able to pick up some of the trade from Lloyds and thankfully they offer a free-to-use cash machine. That will come as cold comfort to many loyal customers, and to the Bank staff who one might presume are faced, at the very least, with uncertainty.”
