Bowling along – keeping active in retirement
IF you’ve recently retired and are looking for a new interest and challenge whilst keeping you active and outdoors a bowls club at the Latton Bush Centre may have the perfect solution for you.
The Re-formed Activities Bowls Club at the Latton Bush Centre Bowls Green offer the chance for over 50s retired or semi-retired folk to take up this skilful but relaxing sport with roll-ups every Monday and Friday from 11am – 1pm.
With retirement often presenting a major shift in daily activity and social contact for some people the club offers the opportunity to meet new people and to stay active both in mind and body.
‘I enjoy the fresh air and playing a sport with a friendly crowd which is not too overtaxing’
‘Playing with the Re-formed Activities Bowls Club allows me to meet people of a similar age and shared interest in an outdoor sport which has been great for my confidence.’
‘I played outdoor bowls at club level for a number of years and joined the bowls club a few years ago. We have a friendly but competitive group without the requirements of a formal club.’
A complimentary session of free tuition and use of bowls is on offer if you’ve never played before but previous players are also welcome for this more relaxed game.
Unlike many clubs there are no expensive outlays for membership, kit or the need to commit to every session.
Once hooked Membership is only £2.50 per year with a minimal fee each session. Membership also gives you access to a varied programme of other sports and interests across the town including Short Mat Bowls, Badminton, Table Tennis, Line Dancing, Pilates and a Walking Group. All activities have minimal fees and vary on the cost of the venue.
Just come along on a Monday or Friday, see www.essexinfo.net/reformed-activities or call 07938 711775
