Athletics: Andy, Paul and Kerry are true “Ironmen”

HARLOW Running Club members Andy Kitson, Paul Schroder and Kerry Mavris completed the Outlaw Ironman Triathlon at Nottingham consisting of a 2.4 mile lake swim, 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run. An Ironman is widely considered one of the most difficult one-day sporting events in the world and this was their debut at the distance. Kitson finished the grueling event in 129th place out of 824 finishers in an exhausting 11 hrs 12min 01sec, Schroder was 603rd in 13.52.21 and Mavris 690th in 14.29.25.

Meanwhile at the Trifarm Sprint Distance Triathlon at Chelmsford (800m lake swim/18km bike/5km run) Ryan Smith finished in 16th place out of 98 finishers in 1.13.25, Paula Reynolds was 24th and 3rd Female Vet 40 in 1.16.11, Louise Kedge 55th in 1.23.32 and Gail Nicholls 58th and 1st Female Vet 50 in 1.24.58.

At the Twilight Half Marathon Josh Shelton was victorious in 1st place out of 48 finishers in a superb 1.33.31 in his debut at the distance. Also running was Laura Prime in 19th place and 3rd Female in 1.57.09.

At the Lee Valley 10K Dan Chapman finished in 8th place out of 183 finishers in an excellent PB time of 37.59 and Joy Hale was 128th in 61.19.

At Harlow parkrun Martin Westley finished in 3rd place out of 155 finishers in 19.08. He was followed home by Steve Cowlin 19th in 23.49, Tom Ruszkowski 21st in 23.56, Steve Warren 23rd in 24.12 (PB), Paul Dixon 25th in 24.26, Chris McCarthy 27th in 24.59, Jim Bates 34th in 25.52, Andrew Smith 39th in 26.56, Spencer Brooks 40th in 27.04, John Bull 41st in 27.05, Robin Lozeau 43rd in 27.12, Debbie Barry 45th in 27.34, Martin Elven 47th in 27.52, Sandra Webber 68th in 30.22, Hossein Erfani 73rd in 30.53, Ryan Smith 77th in 30.57, Alan Wellbelove 100th in 33.02, Liz Roberts 101st in 33.06 and Tracie Cook 108th in 34.40.

At Bishop’s Stortford parkrun Jason Haigh finished in 17th place out of 270 finishers in 20.57, Darren Rautenbach was 74th in 24.38, Hannah Wenlock 95th in 26.05, David Page 97th in 26.13, Janice Page 113th in 26.58, Brenda Clayton 174th in 30.49 and Lindsey Pearson 179th in 31.25.

At Ware parkrun Danny McCree was 4th from 154 finishers in 19.29.

At Barking parkrun Martyn Coulter was 6th from 101 finishers in 19.55.

At the Gunpowder parkrun in Waltham Abbey Rick Ricketts was 19th from 178 finishers in 21.54.

At Cheltenham parkrun Ben Usher was 52nd from 395 finishers in 21.58.

At Colwick parkrun in Nottingham Andy Kitson was 55th from 271 finishers in 24.05 and Karen Kitson 251st in 45.28.

At Mersea Island parkrun Julia Gardiner was 17th from 62 finishers in 24.07.

At Maidenhead parkrun Terry Pike was 183rd from 282 finishers in 31.07.

At Heartwood Forest parkrun in St Albans Andy Kinney was 132nd from 164 finishers in 32.12.

At Royston parkrun Helen Brenton was 272nd from 296 finishers in 38.02.
