PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY
Harlow Town 1 v 1 Hertford Town
Hopeful Harlow held by Hertford at home
WITH thoughts turning to the football league which kicks off this weekend you could be forgiven for missing the fact that Harlow were in action against neighbours Hertford Town in a pre season friendly at the McCulloch Arena today. In fact in stark contrast to Wednesday night’s game only 112 fans made it along.
However, those that did go were treated to some decent football and with Harlow going in to half time one goal to the good, courtesy of Andre McCollin scoring from the spot in the 44th minute. Hertford did have a goal disallowed for offside earlier in the first half.
However, this lead wasn’t to last with Blues striker Ruff equalising after some decent build up play from the visitors in the 62nd minute. The game was to end 1-1 although in truth either team could have won it.
David Hughes made another one of his excellent saves late on in the game but it was The Hawks, with a decent strike from McCollins who came closest.
In the last minute Hughes did a bit of his trademark sweeper keeping, amusingly taking off his cap before heading the ball into the stands.
Once again South African winger Jason Raad impressed for the home team. He is one of the smatterings of Harlow Town players who will give the loyal Hawks fans some hope when the league kicks off proper next weekend.
Final score Harlow Town 1 v 1 Hertford Town
