HARLOW Council is encouraging local residents to show their love for Harlow Town Park and Parndon Wood Nature Reserve by nominating them both for a national Green Flag People’s Choice Award.

The experts have had their say and in July both Harlow Town Park and Parndon Wood Nature Reserve were given prestigious Green Flag Awards.

Now, the Award Scheme is asking the nation to have its say and decide which parks and green spaces should receive the People’s Choice Award for being the UK’s favourites.

Whether you enjoy visiting a park or green space to play football, walk the dog, exercise or simply get away from the hustle and bustle, if you think your favourite deserves to be in the top 10 People’s Choice then cast your vote.

All you have to do is go to www.greenflagaward.org find your park on the winners map and click the voting button. Once you’ve registered your vote, why not encourage others to get involved too through social media using the hashtag #PeoplesChoice.

Councillor Danny Purton, Portfolio Holder for Environment, said: “Harlow Town Park and Parndon Wood Nature Reserve are both wonderful facilities of which we and the whole town are very proud of. Another accolade for either of these parks would be testament to the hard work of the volunteers and Council staff who maintain and look after them. The Town Park is often referred to as the jewel in our crown in Harlow and has the wonderful Pets’ Corner within it. Parndon Wood has won 10 green flags in a row and is an ancient woodland which is home to a huge range of local wildlife. We hope the public back our bid to get them both in the top 10 parks in the UK.”

Voting opens 1 September and closes 30 September 2018, with the top 10 sites being announced on 16 October 2018.
