Man sent for trial over alleged hit and run which left cyclist seriously injured

A MAN is set to stand trial over an alleged hit and run which left a cyclist with a serious head injury.

Kieran Smith, aged 29, of Goosebridge Cottages, High Laver Road, Matching Green has been charged with the following.

On 05/11/2017 at Magdalen Laver being the driver of a mechanically propelled vehicle, namely Volkswagen Scirocco, owing to the presence of which on a road, namely Wind Hill, an accident occurred whereby personal injury was caused to another person, failed to stop and on being required by a person having reasonable grounds for so requiring failed to give your name and address and the name and address of the owner and the identification marks of the vehicle.

On 05/11/2017 at Magdalen Laver caused serious injury to another by driving a mechanically propelled vehicle, namely VOLKSWAGEN SCIROCCO, dangerously on a road namely Wind Hill.

On 05/11/2017 at Magdalen Laver drove a motor vehicle, namely Volkswagen Scirocco on a road, namely Wind Hill otherwise than in accordance with a licence authorising you to drive a motor vehicle of that class.

On 05/11/2017 at Magdalen Laver being the driver of a mechanically propelled vehicle, namely VOLKSWAGEN SCIROCCO, owing to the presence of which on a road or other public place, namely Wind Hill, an accident occurred whereby personal injury was caused to another person, and not having given your name and address to a person having reasonable grounds for requiring you to do so, failed to report the accident at a police station or to a constable as soon as was reasonably practicable, and in any case within twenty-four hours of the occurrence of the accident.

A trial date of October 31st at Chelmsford Crown Court has been set.
